How UpRys’ Employer of Record Platform Simplifies the University of Cincinnati’s Contractor Engagement Process

The Situation
In 2017 the University of Cincinnati included UpRys in a request for proposal (RFP) for Employerof-Record (EOR) Services for contracted employees (not incorporated) hired to perform specific projects at the University of Cincinnati for designated periods of time. The University required the selected supplier to provide a standard package of benefits to the employee, including earned vacation and health insurance.
UpRys responded to the RFP proposing the UpRys Employerof-Record platform, leveraging technology that provided a modern user experience while leveling up the benefits package, program compliance and risk mitigation. UpRys was awarded the contract.
The Goals
The UpRys team began by collecting detailed information from the University to ensure a seamless client/employee experience. The team learned about their business goals, stakeholders, estimated number of employees payrolled annually, specific background screening and benefits requirements, shaping payroll processing and ensuring legal compliance.
Next, UpRys needed to empower the University’s team to navigate the EOR platform. UpRys conducted training sessions and incorporated a comprehensive communication strategy to inform the University and employees about the transition and educate them on the support services available.
Lastly, UpRys began employee onboarding, followed by payroll processing with a goal of streamlined accuracy. Employees received pay on time without error in a seamless rhythm – a testament to UpRys’ commitment to precision. The UpRys became an extension of the University’s HR department. Regular check-ins were scheduled to monitor progress.
The Results
With a seamless EOR solution in place, administrative burdens were eliminated. Employment contracts, tax filings, and other administrative tasks were managed by UpRys, liberating the University’s HR department to focus on primary initiatives. The combination of benefits, streamlined processes, and regulatory adherence resulted in employee satisfaction and operational excellence.
